Our Vision
Promoting Art | Creating Awareness
The South Asian Performing Arts Foundation was established in June 2006 with the goal of promoting and preserving the traditional classic and folk arts of the India while enhancing the awareness and understanding of South Asian culture in Oklahoma.
We strive to make these art traditions accessible to a diverse audience who may not have been exposed to these artistic expressions before. Our past events have been attended and appreciated by not just Indians but native Oklahomans as well.
Through varied programming in theater, dance, music, poetry we seek to educate and motivate youth, inspire teachers and bring communities together. Performances are stylized with nuanced meanings. Each event is preceded by an educational segment intended to ramp up audience's understanding.
We partner with area schools to conduct workshops by visiting artists. Artists meet students and give demonstrations that draw comparisons between contemporary and ancient dance forms. This furthers our belief of arts as an integral component of social exchange. We request and encourage you to reach out with such opportunities from entities that share our vision in promoting diversity and cross-culture interactions.
